Meet the hosts
Dr. Abigail Carpenter
Dr. Abigail Carpenter received her B.S. from Michigan State University, her M.S. from the University of Minnesota, and her Ph.D. from Kansas State University. Her first position was at the University of Guelph, Ridgetown Campus, where she held teaching, research, and service positions, focusing on dairy nutrition management in her research and outreach activities. In 2019, she moved back to the U.S. for an industry position as a dairy nutritionist at CSA Animal Nutrition in Dayton, OH. She returned to academia in 2021, accepting a position as Assistant Teaching Professor in dairy management at Iowa State University. She officially moved to her current appointment with ISU in July 2022, where she has an expanded role as the state dairy extension specialist.
Dr. Abigail Carpenter
Dr. Barry Bradford completed dual B.S. degrees at Iowa State University and a doctorate in Animal Nutrition at Michigan State University. He then served on the faculty at Kansas State University from 2006 to 2019, and in 2020, he returned to Michigan State as the Clint Meadows Chair in Dairy Management. Bradford’s research group has largely contributed with studies on dietary utilization of byproducts in lactation diets, the impacts of post-calving inflammation, and the roles of nutrients as signals. In his current role, Dr. Bradford works directly with dairy producers to apply both research and herd monitoring data to improve decision-making on dairy farms.
